Perth drivers are getting some welcome relief at the moment. Metro U91 has now dropped for four consecutive weeks, sitting at 161.2c/L this week after falling another 3.9c. That's a meaningful run of sustained relief, and the forecast suggests it's not done yet.

Diesel was the standout mover, dropping 7.0c in metro areas and 6.3c in rural WA. That's a significant shift for tradies and anyone running a diesel vehicle.

U91 had an interesting week intra-day. Prices actually climbed from Monday through to Wednesday, peaking at 166.0c/L on 17 June before reversing sharply. By Sunday 21 June, metro U91 had fallen to 157.2c/L, recovering all of that mid-week rise and then some.

P95 followed almost the same pattern, rising to 181.6c on Wednesday before steadily unwinding to 172.4c by Sunday. P98 mirrored this too, touching 190.5c mid-week then pulling back to 181.6c to close out the period.

Rural drivers are also seeing relief, though the gap remains punishing. At 195.3c/L for U91 versus 161.2c in metro, country WA drivers are paying 34.1c more per litre. On a 60-litre fill, that's over $20 extra every single time. Regional diesel at 227.0c versus metro's 187.0c tells a similar story for rural workers and fleets.

WA Metro Price Range: What Shopping Around Can Save You

There's a massive spread across Perth this week. The cheapest metro station, Costco Casuarina, is pricing U91 at 142.7c/L, while the most expensive sits at 216.9c/L. That's a 74.2c gap, which means the station you choose matters enormously.

Brand averages reinforce this. Metro Petroleum is averaging just 150.7c across its five metro stations. At the other end, EG Ampol is averaging 168.6c. That's an 17.9c difference for the same unleaded fuel, simply by choosing who you buy from.

Last Sunday, 21 June, was the cheapest day to fill up in metro Perth, with U91 hitting 157.2c/L. That's the low point for the week and worth keeping in mind when you're timing your next visit.

The outlook for metro Perth is encouraging. Forecast prices show U91 tracking down to 154.6c/L on Monday (78% confidence), 153.0c/L on Tuesday (71% confidence), and 151.5c/L by Wednesday (65% confidence). All three days sit noticeably below the current weekly average of 161.2c/L, so if you can hold off a day or two, it's likely to pay off.

WA is also tracking 2.2c below the national metro U91 average of 163.4c/L, so Perth is in a relatively strong position compared to most of the country right now.

How to Save More on Fuel in WA Right Now

The current metro price of 161.2c/L sits well below the 30-day high of 216.9c/L, and if forecasts hold, prices could dip toward 151.5c by midweek. Don't top up today if your tank can wait until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Seek out independent and discount brands. Metro Petroleum and Burk are both averaging under 152c this week. The savings over a major brand add up fast if you're filling up weekly.
