Metro U91 had a bumpy ride through the week. Prices actually crept up from 221.3c on Monday to a mid-week peak of 226.4c on Wednesday, before falling steadily through to Sunday's low of 214.0c. That Wednesday spike was brief but real, so anyone who filled up early in the week paid more than they needed to.

Diesel was the big story. Metro prices climbed hard from 306.8c on Monday, peaking at 322.3c on Thursday before pulling back slightly to 314.2c by Sunday. That's a brutal week for truckies, tradies, and anyone running a diesel SUV.

Premium unleaded followed a similar pattern to U91. Metro P95 peaked at 242.7c on Wednesday then retreated to 229.9c by Sunday. P98 tracked the same arc, topping out at 252.2c mid-week before closing at 239.5c.

The spread between the cheapest and most expensive metro stations is enormous this week. The cheapest metro station recorded 188.3 c/L for U91, while the most expensive hit 265.9 c/L. That's a 77.6c gap on a 60-litre tank, meaning you could pay roughly $46 more at the wrong station. Brand choice matters too. Burk stations averaged 200.7c, Atlas averaged 208.2c, and Vibe came in at 210.3c. At the other end, Independent stations averaged 236.5c and Better Choice averaged 229.4c. That's a 35.8c difference between Burk and Independent, which is significant money over time.

Last Sunday (12 April) was the cheapest day to fill up metro U91 at 214.0c. If you're flexible about when you visit the station, watching the daily trend late in the week paid off this time. Rural drivers also saw Sunday as their best option at 228.0c, down from 238.1c at the start of the week.

The forecast for metro U91 is effectively flat over the next three days. Prices are tipped to hold very close to current levels, with 220.3c on Monday, 220.8c on Tuesday, and a nudge up to 222.1c by Wednesday (at 69% confidence). There's no major swing expected, so there's no strong reason to rush to fill up or delay.

What the Numbers Mean for WA Drivers Right Now

If you drive petrol, you're in a reasonable spot. 220.4c metro U91 sits well below this month's 30-day high of 269c, though there's clearly room to fall further given the 30-day low of 188.3c. If you drive diesel, brace yourself: 315.9c metro is a painful premium over petrol at 95.5c per litre. Shop around hard on diesel this week, the gap between stations will save you real money.
