SA Fuel Prices – Week of 6 July 2026

South Australia's fuel prices climbed across the board this week, but Adelaide drivers still have reason to feel relatively good. U91 metro averaged 163.4 c/L, making SA the cheapest state in the country, sitting 5.1c below the national metro average of 168.5 c/L.

That said, this is the second consecutive week U91 metro has risen, so the trend is worth watching.

Biggest Movers in SA Petrol Prices This Week

P98 led the charge upward, jumping +5.9c to reach 188.9 c/L in metro areas. That's the steepest single-week rise of any fuel type this week. P95 wasn't far behind at +5.5c.

E10 also rose +5.3c metro to 156.9 c/L, though it remains the cheapest option available for compatible vehicles. If your car runs on E10, that's nearly 6.5c cheaper per litre than U91 right now.

U91's daily trend tells an interesting story. Prices opened the week at 165c on Monday before dipping to a low of 162.8c on Wednesday and Thursday. From Friday they crept back up, finishing the week at 163.4c. Rural U91 was remarkably stable throughout, barely shifting from around 180.6c all week.

Diesel metro followed a similar shape, touching a weekly low of 186c on Thursday before climbing to 187.6c by Sunday. Rural diesel moved in the opposite direction, drifting upward through the week from 200.1c to 201.6c with no real dip.

P95 dipped to 179.4c metro on Wednesday before recovering steadily. Rural P95 showed a similar pattern, bottoming at 196.2c mid-week.

For drivers outside the metro area, the rural premium on U91 is a punishing 17.2c per litre this week. On a 60-litre fill, that's over $10 more just for living outside Adelaide. It's one of the starkest cost-of-living pressures regional SA drivers deal with weekly.

What Adelaide Drivers Are Actually Paying: Metro Price Range

There's a massive spread in what metro drivers are paying right now. The cheapest metro station was Costco Kilburn at 150.7 c/L for U91, while the most expensive reached 199.9 c/L at an independent station. That's a 49.2c gap on the same fuel in the same city.

On brand averages, Liberty was the cheapest at 158.5c and BP the priciest at 165.3c among major brands with meaningful coverage. Choosing your brand carefully could save you well over 5c a litre.

Supply Update: LPG and Diesel Stations Running Dry

Total out-of-stock station-fuels jumped from 99 to 110 this week. LPG had the sharpest rise, up from 28 to 37 stations with no stock. Diesel availability also tightened, with 24 stations dry compared to 22 last week. If you rely on either fuel, it's worth checking availability before you head out.

Best Fill-Up Day Last Week

Last Thursday (10 July) was the cheapest day to fill up metro U91, with prices touching 162.8 c/L. Mid-week continues to be the sweet spot in Adelaide's pricing cycle.

SA Metro Petrol Price Forecast: 13–15 July

Metro U91 is expected to nudge upward from the current 163.4 c/L to 163.5 c/L on Monday, 163.7 c/L Tuesday, and 163.8 c/L by Wednesday, though confidence sits between 55% and 66%. There's no sharp spike predicted, just a gentle drift higher.

How to Save on Fuel in SA This Week

Current U91 metro prices sit near the lower half of the 30-day range (low 142.7c, high 199.9c), so while prices have risen two weeks running, you're not in peak-pain territory yet. If you can get to Costco Kilburn or a Liberty station, you could be paying closer to 150–158c rather than the metro average. Mid-week remains the best window to fill up before weekend creep sets in.
