Diesel was the standout mover, falling 7.4c in metro areas to reach 216.9 c/L. That's a significant single-week shift for truck operators and tradespeople. Rural diesel also eased, dropping 4.6c to 232.0 c/L, though that's still a painful 15.1c premium over metro rates for anyone living outside Adelaide.

Metro U91 drifted steadily lower every single day across the week, from 176.8c on Monday the 25th down to 170.1c by Sunday the 31st. There were no mid-week spikes or reversals. It was a clean, consistent slide. Rural U91 followed the same pattern, ticking down from 196.3c to 192.6c, though the pace of relief was slower.

P95 also had a solid week, falling 3.6c metro to 189.6 c/L, and P98 dropped 3.5c to 198.3 c/L.

The 30-day U91 metro low is 162.9 c/L and the high was 264.9 c/L. This week's average of 173.3c is sitting close to that monthly floor, which means prices are near their most competitive point in recent weeks.

There's still a wide spread across metro stations. The cheapest metro station this week was 162.9 c/L and the priciest was 199.9 c/L. That's a 37c gap, which adds up to several dollars on a typical tank. It pays to check before you drive past.

Brand averages tell a similar story. U-Go and Mobil both averaged 168.9c for metro U91, and Liberty came in at 169.4c. BP averaged 178.6c and some Independents reached 177.7c. Choosing one of the cheaper brands over BP could save you around 10c per litre on a regular fill.

The forecast has metro U91 falling from the current 173.3 c/L to 168.1 c/L on Monday 1 June (78% confidence), 166.9 c/L on Tuesday (71% confidence), and 165.9 c/L by Wednesday 3 June (65% confidence). If those numbers play out, metro drivers could see prices approaching that 30-day low.
