South Australian drivers caught a proper break this week. Metro U91 dropped 25.2c to land at 182.5 c/L, making SA the cheapest state in the country for unleaded petrol — and that slide has now continued for three consecutive weeks.

Biggest Movers in SA Petrol Prices This Week

Diesel was the standout mover. Metro diesel shed 39.7c to average 264.8 c/L, with rural diesel falling a hefty 29.9c to 287.2 c/L. That's a significant relief for tradespeople and freight operators, even if prices remain elevated in absolute terms.

The daily trend told a consistent story across the board. Prices fell steadily from Monday through Wednesday, then flattened out by the weekend. Metro U91 opened the week at 192.8c on Monday the 20th and eased all the way down to 176.5c by Sunday the 26th, with no mid-week spikes or reversals to speak of. Rural U91 followed a similar path, dropping from 215.7c to 202.9c over the same period.

E10 was the cheapest fuel on offer in metro SA this week at 176.1 c/L, a drop of 25.7c. P95 and P98 both fell around 25c too, so premium fuel drivers got a meaningful reprieve alongside everyone else.

One supply note worth flagging: P98 out-of-stock reports jumped from 18 stations to 28 stations this week, while E85 recorded its first outage of the cycle. If you run on P98, it's worth checking availability before you head out rather than assuming your usual station has stock.

SA Metro Price Range and Brand Averages

The gap between the cheapest and most expensive metro stations this week is enormous. The cheapest recorded metro price was 168.7 c/L at Costco Kilburn, while the most expensive sat at 264.9 c/L at Independent Marina Fuel. That's a 96.2c spread, which on a 60-litre tank works out to nearly $58 difference depending on where you fill up.

Brand averages show a similar story. SOLO averaged 177.3c across 10 metro stations, with U-Go at 178.6c and Liberty at 179.4c. BP averaged 194.1c and Independent stations averaged 200c, meaning shopping around could save you more than 20c per litre compared to the priciest brands.

Last Sunday was the cheapest day to fill up, with metro U91 hitting 176.5 c/L on 26 April. Prices fell consistently through the week, so those who held off until the weekend were rewarded.

SA Metro Petrol Price Forecast: Next 3 Days

The forecast points to further falls ahead for metro Adelaide. The model has U91 dropping to 172.9 c/L on Monday (78% confidence), then 169.5 c/L on Tuesday (71%), and 163.9 c/L by Wednesday (65%). That would put metro prices close to the 30-day low of 168.7c recorded this cycle.

SA is already 6.8c below the national metro U91 average of 189.3 c/L, so the state as a whole is in a good spot. But the real savings come from choosing the right station.
