Biggest Movers in QLD Fuel Prices This Week

P95 was the sharpest mover in metro areas, up 8.5c to 185.5 c/L. P98 wasn't far behind at +8.3c, now sitting at 193.8 c/L metro. If you're running a premium fuel vehicle, this week stung more than most.

Metro U91 climbed steadily through the week, nudging from 167.9c on Monday to a mid-week peak of 169.7c on Thursday before easing very slightly, then closing the week back at 169.7c on Sunday. There was no real dip to exploit. Rural U91 was comparatively flat, hovering between 180.2c and 180.7c all week, meaning the metro-to-rural gap remained a consistent 11.5c, which is a real cost difference if you're filling up a large tank away from the city.

Diesel told a different story. Metro diesel drifted upward all week, climbing from 186.7c on Monday right through to 189.9c by Sunday. That's a 3.2c rise within the week alone, and with a metro premium over U91 of 18.6c, tradies and fleet operators are feeling squeezed. Rural diesel also crept higher, finishing near 199.5c.

E10 remains the cheapest option in Queensland metro areas at 166.5 c/L, saving you 2.5c per litre compared to U91. If your car is compatible, it's worth considering.

QLD Station Price Range: How Much Shopping Around Actually Saves

The spread between the cheapest and priciest metro stations this week was a jaw-dropping 57.5c per litre. Atlas Fuel Labrador came in at 152.5 c/L for U91, while United Browns Slipway was charging 210 c/L. On a 60-litre fill, that difference is over $34.

Brand averages tell a similar story. Atlas Fuel averaged 157.4c, U-Go 159.2c, and Metro Fuel 160.1c, while BP averaged 171.6c and 7-Eleven 171.9c. That's a gap of more than 14c per litre between the cheapest and priciest major brands. The station you choose matters far more than most people realise.

Last Monday (7 July) was the cheapest point of the week for metro drivers, with U91 averaging just 167.9 c/L. Prices drifted higher from there, so those who filled up early in the week came out ahead.

Metro U91 is expected to hold relatively flat over the coming days. The forecast sits at 169 c/L on Sunday (matching current), 169.3 c/L on Monday, and 169.5 c/L on Tuesday. Confidence levels range from 66% down to 55%, so don't count on big swings either way.

For context, QLD metro U91 at 169 c/L is sitting 0.5c above the national metro average of 168.5 c/L. South Australia is currently the cheapest state at 163.4 c/L.

How to Save on Fuel in QLD Right Now

With U91 sitting in the middle of its 30-day range of 144.7c to 226c, prices aren't at crisis levels, but they're climbing. If you're on premium fuels, the pain is sharper this week. Switching to E10 where possible saves you real money, around 2.5c per litre compared to U91.
