Queensland drivers have caught a welcome break this week. Metro U91 has now fallen for three consecutive weeks, sitting at 169.1 c/L after shedding 5.1c since last week. Diesel dropped even harder, down 6.6c in metro areas. It's a broad, consistent slide across every fuel type, and that's rare enough to be worth paying attention to.

Biggest Movers in QLD Fuel Prices This Week

Diesel was the standout performer. Metro diesel fell 6.6c to 204.3 c/L, and rural diesel tracked almost identically, dropping 6.5c to 217.0 c/L. That kind of uniform movement across both metro and regional Queensland is unusual and signals genuine wholesale pressure easing.

U91 and E10 both shed 5.1c in metro areas. The daily data tells a clean story too. Metro U91 opened the week at 170.2c on Monday and drifted steadily downward every single day, closing Saturday at 168.3c with no mid-week spikes or reversals. It's been a textbook slide.

E10 followed the same pattern, from 167.4c on Monday to 165.5c by Saturday. If your car runs on E10, that's currently the cheapest option available in metro QLD.

P95 and P98 also moved lower. P95 metro ended the week at 184.6 c/L after a small rural blip on Thursday (rural P95 ticked up slightly to 194.0c before resuming its decline), while P98 metro closed at 193.2 c/L.

QLD Metro Station Prices and the Brand Gap

Shopping around genuinely matters here. Metro station prices range from 145.7 c/L at the cheapest station to 226.0 c/L at the most expensive. That's an 80.3c spread, which on a 60-litre tank is nearly $48.

Brand averages tell a similar story. Atlas Fuel averages 160.9c for metro U91 across its four stations, while Shell averages 173.9c across eleven. That's a 13c gap between the cheapest and priciest brands, and it's absolutely worth a detour if one of the cheaper brands is on your route.

The metro U91 forecast has prices easing from the current 169.1 c/L down to 167.0c on Monday, 166.0c on Tuesday, and 165.1c by Wednesday (confidence ranges from 78% down to 65%). These are metro forecasts only, and confidence drops as you go further out, but the direction is consistent.

For context, QLD metro U91 sits 2.3c above the national average of 166.8 c/L this week, with SA currently the cheapest state at 158.8 c/L.

How to Save on Fuel Costs in QLD Right Now

One supply note worth flagging: PDiesel (premium diesel) stock-outs have jumped from 9 stations to 15 this week, and P98 out-of-stocks rose from 15 to 20. It's not a crisis, but if you rely on either of those fuels, it's worth checking availability before you head out rather than assuming your usual station has stock.

The current metro U91 price of 169.1 c/L sits well below the 30-day high of 252.0c, so right now is a genuinely good time to fill up. The forecast suggests a few more cents of relief through midweek. If you can hold off until Tuesday or Wednesday, the numbers suggest you'll pay a little less. Either way, use a price comparison app to find the cheapest station near you before you go, because that 80c metro spread means the wrong choice can cost you a lot.
