Biggest Movers in QLD Fuel Prices This Week

Diesel was the week's standout story, and not in a good way. Metro prices shot up from 308.7c on Monday to a peak of 326.8c on Thursday before pulling back to 320.4c by Sunday. Rural diesel followed a near-identical path, cresting at 327.3c mid-week. That's a brutal intra-week swing that caught plenty of tradies and transport operators off-guard.

U91 moved in the opposite direction, drifting steadily downward across every single day of the week. Metro opened at 226.4c on Monday and closed at 220.4c by Sunday, a clean, uninterrupted slide with no mid-week reversal. Rural U91 tracked the same path, falling from 236.2c to 229.6c.

E10 was the cheapest petrol option this week at 220.9c/L metro, just barely below U91. In rural QLD the gap almost vanished entirely, with E10 averaging 221.0c versus U91's 232.4c. If your car is E10-compatible, the savings add up fast outside the city.

P95 and P98 both dropped around 5c across the week, following the broader petrol trend downward.

LPG remained the cheapest fuel in the state by a wide margin at 113.1c/L metro, though with only 58 metro stations stocking it, it's not an option for everyone.

On brand averages for metro U91, U-Go was the cheapest at 217.6c across 8 stations, followed by Pearl Energy at 219.9c and Liberty at 220.2c. At the other end, BP averaged 226.1c and Independent sites averaged 226.6c. That's a gap of nearly 9c per litre between the cheapest and priciest brands, which on a 60-litre tank is more than five dollars.

Confidence sits at 77% for Monday and Tuesday, dropping to 69% for Wednesday. No dramatic shifts are expected, but prices could tick upward slightly by midweek.
