NSW drivers have had a solid week at the roads. Every fuel type tracked in the state dropped in price, with diesel leading the charge down, shedding 11.8c in metro areas and a hefty 13.2c across rural NSW. Metro U91 has now fallen for five consecutive weeks, sitting at 155.1c/L, which is 2.2c below the national metro average of 157.3c/L.

Biggest Movers in NSW Fuel Prices This Week

Diesel's drop of 11.8c in metro and 13.2c in rural areas is the standout move this week. That's meaningful savings if you're driving a diesel vehicle, particularly for tradies and farmers running utes or trucks across regional NSW.

E10 remained the cheapest option across the week, finishing at 153.0c/L in metro areas. That's a 6.8c saving over metro U91, and rural E10 at 159.7c/L is comfortably the cheapest fuel option outside the city too.

U91's daily trend tells an encouraging story. Metro prices fell almost every day, from 157.9c on Monday 22 June down to 152.8c by Saturday 28 June, with only the tiniest uptick on Sunday. Rural U91 followed the same pattern, easing from 171.2c to 165.7c across the week before nudging up a fraction on Sunday.

P95 and P98 both slid steadily through the week before levelling off on Friday and Saturday, which is typical behaviour as the market finds its floor.

How Much Metro Prices Vary: The Station Price Gap

Shopping around in Sydney can genuinely save you serious money. The cheapest metro station tracked this week came in at 136.7c/L while the most expensive was 199.9c/L. That's a 63.2c spread on the exact same fuel type. On a 60-litre tank, that difference is nearly $38.

Brand averages show a similar story. Among brands with three or more stations, Arko Energy averaged 147.7c, U-Go 148.5c, and ASTRON 148.5c. At the other end, Mobil and Caltex both averaged 160c. That's a 12.3c gap between the cheapest and priciest brands, which is well worth factoring in when you're choosing where to stop.

The short-term outlook for metro U91 is interesting. Prices are expected to dip further over the next two days, with Monday 29 June forecast at 151.4c/L (78% confidence) and Tuesday 30 June at 149.9c/L (71% confidence). Both are below the current metro average of 155.1c/L.

Wednesday 1 July tells a different story, with a forecast jump to 174.8c/L (65% confidence). That kind of spike is consistent with the typical Sydney price cycle, where prices bottom out before a sharp resurgence. If you can fill up Monday or Tuesday, you'll likely be ahead.

Running on E10 where your car supports it saves you nearly 7c per litre over U91 right now. Diesel drivers in rural NSW are in particularly good shape this week after that 13c fall.
