Prices are falling in NSW, and they've been doing so for a month straight. Metro U91 has now dropped for four consecutive weeks, landing at 160.8 c/L this week, and the daily data shows the slide didn't let up at any point across the seven days.

Biggest Movers in NSW Petrol Prices This Week

Diesel was the standout. Metro diesel tumbled 8.3c to 189.2 c/L, while rural diesel dropped an even steeper 8.6c to 202.4 c/L. That's a meaningful win for tradies, freight operators, and anyone towing a caravan through regional NSW this week.

Every other fuel type fell by roughly 3c across metro and rural. E10 was the cheapest metro option at 158.8 c/L, with U91 close behind at 160.8 c/L. If your car can run E10, it's a genuine saving.

P95 and P98 followed the same gentle downward slope, losing 3.1c and 3.3c respectively in metro. Premium fuel drivers are paying 185.9 c/L for P98, still well above the regular grades but trending in the right direction.

The daily trend across all fuel types was a clean, uninterrupted decline from Monday to Sunday, which is rare. No mid-week spikes, no reversals. Metro U91 opened the week at 163.1 c/L on Monday the 15th and closed at 158.7 c/L by Sunday the 21st.

NSW Metro Station Prices: What Shopping Around Is Worth

There's a big spread hiding inside those weekly averages. The cheapest metro station recorded 138.7 c/L while the most expensive hit 199.9 c/L. That's a 61.2c gap on the same grade of fuel in the same city. Where you choose to fill up genuinely matters.

Brand averages tell a similar story. Among metro U91 brands with three or more stations, Arko Energy averaged 152.4c, U-Go averaged 154.0c, and Speedway averaged 154.6c. At the other end, EG Ampol averaged 166.6c and Mobil averaged 166.5c. That's more than a 14c difference per litre between the cheapest and priciest brands.

Last Sunday was the cheapest day to fill up, with metro U91 hitting 158.7 c/L on 21 June. If you managed to fill up then, you paid near the weekly low.

NSW Metro U91 Petrol Price Forecast

The forecast points to continued falls in metro Sydney. From the current 160.8 c/L, the model expects prices to ease to 157.7 c/L on Monday (78% confidence), 155.7 c/L on Tuesday (71% confidence), and 153.7 c/L on Wednesday (65% confidence). Confidence drops as the window extends, but the direction is consistent.

For context, NSW metro U91 is already sitting 2.6c below the national metro average of 163.4 c/L, which puts NSW drivers in a better position than most states right now.

How to Save on Fuel in NSW This Week

With prices forecast to keep falling early next week, there's a case for holding off a top-up if your tank allows it. The potential saving from Monday to Wednesday alone is around 3c per litre, or roughly $1.80 on a 60-litre tank. It's also worth checking brand averages before you pull in. The gap between the cheapest and priciest metro brands has stretched to over 14c, which adds up fast over a year of regular driving. Rural drivers are paying 13.1c more per litre than metro on U91, so if you're passing through a larger town, it's worth a quick check before you stop.
