Every fuel type in the ACT climbed this week, and Canberra drivers are now paying more for U91 than anywhere else in the country. The weekly average hit 177.7 c/L for U91 metro, up 8.1c on last week and sitting a full 9.2c above the national metro average of 168.5 c/L.

Biggest Movers in ACT Petrol Prices This Week

E10 led the surge, jumping 8.4c to 175.8 c/L, closely followed by P98 up 8.2c to 203.7 c/L and U91 up 8.1c. That's a broad-based rise, not just one fuel type feeling the pressure.

U91 has now risen for two consecutive weeks, which is worth keeping in mind if you've been hoping prices would ease off. The 30-day range for U91 metro sits between 151.9c and 189.9c, putting the current 177.7c/L firmly in the upper half of that range. Prices aren't at their peak yet, but they're trending that way.

Diesel's daily data told an interesting story. It opened the week at 200.8c on Monday, climbed to a mid-week high of 202.5c on Tuesday, then fell sharply through to Friday where it bottomed out at 195.1c, before creeping back up to 197.0c by Saturday. That mid-week spike and subsequent dip is the kind of intra-week movement that can cost you a few dollars if you fill up on the wrong day.

P95 and P98 both tracked similar patterns, peaking mid-week before easing slightly into the weekend. P95 hit 197.1c on Wednesday before settling to 195.2c by Thursday and holding there through the weekend.

Where Canberra Drivers Can Find the Cheapest Fuel This Week

The gap between the cheapest and most expensive metro stations is enormous right now. Costco Canberra Airport (Members Only) was averaging 159.7 c/L for U91, while Ampol Fyshwick was sitting at 189.9 c/L. That's a 30.2c spread, meaning the difference on a 60-litre fill is roughly $18.

Among brands with five or more stations, the range is also meaningful. Metro Fuel averaged 173.4c across 8 stations, well below 7-Eleven at 179.0c (13 stations) and Ampol Foodary at 179.2c (10 stations). Choosing your brand matters here, not just your location.

Last Friday, 10 July, was the cheapest day to fill up, with metro U91 averaging 176.7 c/L. If you held off filling until mid-week this week, you likely paid more than you needed to.

ACT Metro Petrol Price Forecast: 13 to 15 July 2026

The near-term outlook for ACT metro U91 is relatively flat. The forecast sits at 177.2 c/L on Sunday (66% confidence), 177.4 c/L on Monday (60%), and 177.7 c/L on Tuesday (55%). That's essentially tracking sideways around the current 177.7 c/L metro average. Don't expect a significant drop over the next few days.

With ACT topping the national leaderboard at 9.2c above the national average, shopping around has never mattered more for Canberra drivers. If you have a Costco membership, the Canberra Airport location is offering genuine savings this week. If you don't, checking brand averages before you commit to a station could save you 5c or more per litre based on this week's data. That adds up quickly over a month.

The diesel premium over U91 is sitting at 21.2c this week, which is notably wide. Diesel drivers are carrying a heavier burden than usual relative to petrol users.
