Canberra drivers caught a proper break this week. U91 metro dropped 19.2c to land at 193.2 c/L, and that's the third consecutive week of falls. Every fuel type tracked in the ACT moved lower, with diesel shedding a hefty 26.6c across the seven days.

Biggest Movers in ACT Petrol Prices This Week

Diesel was the standout mover, falling 26.6c to 275.4 c/L metro. That's a significant shift, though the premium diesel commands over U91 remains eye-watering at 82.2c per litre, so tradespeople and fleet drivers are still feeling it.

U91 dropped steadily day by day, opening the week at 203.6c on Monday and sliding all the way to 188.2c by Sunday. There were no sudden spikes or reversals. It was a clean, consistent decline across all seven days.

E10 tracked almost identically to U91, falling from 201.9c on Monday to 185.6c by Sunday, making it the cheapest option available to ACT drivers this week at a weekly average of 191.0 c/L.

P95 opened at 221.3c and eased to 205.7c by the end of the week, a fall of 19.5c on the weekly average. P98 also softened, moving from 228.8c down to 213.7c across the same period.

The spread between the cheapest and most expensive metro station this week was stark. Metro Petroleum Fyshwick was averaging 172.9 c/L for U91, while Ampol Fyshwick sat at 219.9 c/L. That's a 47c gap for the same grade of fuel in the same city. Where you fill up genuinely matters.

Brand averages tell a similar story. Metro Fuel came in cheapest at 190.9c across 8 stations, closely followed by Coles Express at 191.6c across 15 stations. ACT Metro Petrol Price Forecast: Late April 2026

The short-term outlook for metro U91 is encouraging. From a current average of 193.2 c/L, prices are forecast to ease to 185.1c on Monday (78% confidence), 181.7c on Tuesday (71% confidence), and 177.4c on Wednesday (65% confidence). If those numbers play out, Canberra metro drivers could be looking at prices approaching the 30-day low of 172.9c before the week is out.
